New York, NY – February 12, 2016
With the addition of a new title sponsor and four new riders, Velo Classic p/b Stan’s NoTubes is looking forward to a breakthrough season in 2016.
The team is proud to announce Velo Classic Tours (www.veloclassic.com), as the team’s new title sponsor. A luxury European cycle travel company based in New York City and Belgium, Velo Classic Tours is a proud supporter of women’s cycling. Owner Peter Easton said, “Following the team last year gave us great insight into how dedicated, hard-working and professional these women are. We are committed to growing women’s cycling and this year presents the ideal opportunity to step up as primary sponsor. Our mission is to create opportunities for female cyclists that generate personal growth and professional advancement, provide empowerment through knowledge, and education through experience. We’re very excited to be an even bigger part of the team’s success in 2016.”
The team also enters its fifth year of a long-standing relationship with Stan’s NoTubes (www.notubes.com), the leading lightweight tubeless wheel company. Stan’s will again provide wheels and support for the squad. Team owner BrittLee Bowman noted, “Stans’ continued support has provided stability over the years, helping us to develop our program and foster continuous growth. It’s also great to be supported by a brand whose products we really enjoy.”
The New York City-based USA Cycling Domestic Elite road racing team is aiming to build on a successful 2015 season, with a schedule NRC (National Racing Calendar) and UCI (International-level) events across the United States and Canada. The US National Road Championships in Winston-Salem, in May, will be a new challenge for the squad. One of the team’s top riders, Cassandra Maximenko, said, “"The team is really stepping things up this year. We've added some new riders and the energy is high to have a big presence at some really challenging events this season. Our sponsors continue to grow with the team and that support just motivates us to reach even higher. I'm excited to see what 2016 brings!"
As the team increases its presence on the national stage, it will also grow its new developing riders. It has signed Kristen Arnold and Tate Devlin, two of the top Cat 1 racers from Ohio. Two new promising riders from Brooklyn, NY, Jaime Soper and Natalie Tapias, will give the team more strength and depth. Soper said, “I’m very happy to be joining Velo Classic p/b Stan’s NoTubes this year. My big focus will be on events in the NYC and Tri-State areas as well as pushing my limits in a few National level events, and learning as much as I can from the other inspiring women.”
The 2016 CRCA / Velo Classic p/b Stan’s NoTubes roster includes 9 returning riders and 4 new additions (marked *):
